Broome Area Chapter of the New
York State Society of Professional Engineers, Inc. (NYSSPE)
is a non-profit organization
devoted to the promotion of the engineering profession. We are the
local chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE)
serving the six-county area of Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego,
Tioga and Tompkins. Our membership is composed of more than 70
registered Professional Engineers (PE) and Land Surveyors (LS),
Engineers-in-Training (EIT), and engineering students.
We hold meetings several times each
year, which include informative talks and facility
tours. Other key programs are coordination of the local
Engineers'
Week Dinner in February, the MATHCOUNTS competition for area Middle
Schools, scholarships for high school students entering engineering
study, and promotion of legislation benefiting the profession and
general public.
Each year, we offer several
opportunities for local Professionals to stay current on the latest
technologies through our Annual Southern
Tier Professional Development Symposium held in the fall and at other events conducted by the Chapter
throughout the year. We also keep our members apprised of
other opportunities to earn Professional Development Hours (PDH.)
NSPE is the only professional society
which represents Professional Engineers across all engineering
disciplines and all employment areas: Construction, Education,
Government, Industry and Private Practice. If you are a PE or LS
registered in New York State, an EIT, or an engineering student at
one of the colleges in our area, you are invited to join our
chapter, state and national organizations and help promote the
profession! Please contact us for membership information.
